The 2018 winter fly tying classes were a great success with a good turnout of experts and beginners. Twelve sessions were held during the river close season and more are planned in due course.

Members and Non-Members were welcome to join us.  A message or phone call to Chris Porteous (tel numbers on the contact page) required as we needed to know who was attending just to make sure we had enough tables out and fly tying kit etc.

Over the 12 sessions we were tying a variety of flies including sea trout flies, lake (rainbow) patterns and some river trout flies, and also grayling patterns for our new River Dee arrangement.

Tea, coffee and biscuits provided! If you have a portable desk lamp bring that too and your own tying kit if you have any.

Venue is Trefnant Village Hall LL16 5UG (Just after the Trefnant traffic lights if coming from St Asaph).

Our first Fly-Tying Sessions were very well attended and most enjoyable.

Six initial sessions were held from Nov 13, 7-9pm at Trefnant Village Hall.

There was a good mix of experienced tyers, some who have never tied a fly before and guest appearances by Arthur Foxon who was very enthusiastic showing everyone some great tips for better fly-tying.

A wide variety of flies were being tied including grayling nymphs, resin nymphs, sea-trout tube flies, boobies and hair-wing sea-trout flies.

Due to the success of the first sessions, another six were held, the final one was on Feb 26th, just before the opening of our 2019 river season.

The event is open to members and prospective-members. There's no charge, we have spare vices, bobbin holders and materials for any beginners to use as well as tea, coffee and biscuits!

Please contact Chris Porteous if you would like to attend. Contact details on the website.
