MAES ELWY - River Elwy

Grid ref.  SJ 035 724

A prime beat on the river Elwy that produces fish at all times.  Noted for night sea trout fishing.

The Association owns this beat, about 1100m, right bank above and below the first weir on the Elwy.  Maes Elwy adjoins our Bryn Polyn beat which is downstream and accessible over a stile.

Parking: Turn into the entrance to MAES ELWY FARM – PRIVATE.  Open and then close the gate and park in the designated parking area which is immediately on your left, before the cattle grid. RASAAA signs have been installed indicating the parking area limits; please ensure that you comply in order to maintain our positive relationship with the landowner.

Walk through the pedestrian gate to the right of the cattle grid and follow the fence on your right down the drive towards the sheds.  Please note the electric fence is ON and there are power lines above you!  Just before the RED SIGN which reads ‘PRIVATE ROAD. AUTHORISED VEHICLES ONLY‘ you will find a galvanised pedestrian gate on your right, giving access to the field.  Proceed around the field to join the original path at the corner of the woods. Down through the woods and across the field to the river.  Quite a long walk, uphill on the return.

This access has been agreed to avoid crop damage.  It is a little shorter than the normal route.  In addition, it will mean fewer disturbances for the cottage residents at night.  Please display your Association Car Sticker.

No fishing 27.4m. above and 22.9m. below the weir.

Bookable with Bryn Polyn beat.

Strictly limited to 7 rods  6am-6pm or 6pm-6am .

Day Tickets not available.
