River Elwy BEAT 6 - Maes Elwy
Maes Elwy is a prime beat on the river Elwy noted for night-time sea trout fishing. It adjoins our Bryn Polyn beat which is downstream and accessible over a stile. The Association owns this beat, about 1100m right bank above and below the first weir on the Elwy.
No fishing 27.4 m. above
and 22.9m. below the weir.
Beat grid references, moving upstream:
Right Bank: SJ 04136 72542 to SJ 04038 71945
Is available at Bryn Polyn Nurseries (See Beat 5) or at Maes Elwy Farm.
Turn into the entrance to MAES ELWY FARM - PRIVATE. There is a keypad entry lock code available from the Association secretary.
Open (and then close) the gate and park on the grass verge on the left side between the two RASAAA signs fixed to the fence. Walk along the drive, across the cattle grid and use the pedestrian gate on the right. Proceed around the field to the stile and steps at the corner of the woods. This access has been agreed to avoid crop damage and it will mean fewer disturbances for the cottage residents at night.
